The department of Industrial Engineering has been a part of the Faculty of Engineering of Chulalongkorn University since 1942. It is the first establishment in Thailand to offer formal specialized education in industrial engineering, and has taken an important task of producing industrial engineering graduates to serve the Thai society for over half a century. The establishment of the department was in response to the growing demand for human resource and industrial development from both the public and private sectors during the period after 1937 when Thailand started manufacturing industrial products and goods for its own domestic consumption. The department of Industrial engineering has produced many quality graduates who have gone on to become a key person in the development of various organizations over the past 72 years.
